LUND, Nev. — In December 2024, Cannon Ranch acquired the Perigo Ranch from the Perigo Cattle Company. The 850-acre property borders Cannon Ranch's existing operation in Lund and serves as a direct expansion of the ranch.
Lund sits in the White River Valley of White Pine County in eastern Nevada, south of Ely. Agriculture there depends on water, which makes irrigated land with established water rights one of the most valuable assets a ranch can hold.
Of Perigo Ranch's 850 acres, 685 carry water rights. The property has three established center pivots:
Together they irrigate 680 acres, which Cannon Ranch will manage for pasture and alfalfa production.
The irrigated acreage can support about 600 more head of cattle. It will also let the ranch produce more of its own feed as the herd grows. Because the two properties are contiguous, Cannon Ranch can manage them as one operation, with cattle, equipment and staff moving freely between them and grazing and hay production planned across the full acreage.
The acquisition gives Cannon Ranch room to grow its herd, a more reliable feed supply and a larger base for its cattle operation in Lund, all on land joined to the ground it already works. To learn more about the ranch, visit Cannon Ranch's website.
